ShredEvent1STREAMWOOD – State Senator Cristina Castro (D- Elgin) hosted a free shred day event to allow residents to shred documents with personal information like bank statements, outdated medical records, tax returns and more. The event was in conjunction with State Rep. Fred Crespo, Elgin State Bank and Streamwood Park District.

“Individuals and businesses can fall victim to fraud if personal documents get into the wrong hands,” Castro said. “Shredding documents is a great way to get some peace of mind about where their important information ends up.”

The event took place at the Streamwood Park District. While there, Castro also took the time to tour the park district building to learn up the programs and facilities the district has to offer.

“Park districts play an important role in providing accessible, fun programming for kids and families in our community,” Castro said. “I always appreciate partnering with local park districts like Streamwood’s for events like this shred event.”ParkDistrictTour
